"This site is for advice simply. I think the majority of us know when to go vets" I am sorry if my meaning got misunderstood, I just meant that if you felt your local vet were questionable and wanted to get a second opinion, looking further away might be an option.

Something just looks off to me. Looks like damaged scales. Make sure when he is shedding that you don't pull on the shed to help it off, just let it come off naturally. I would get a second opinion just to make sure it's not a bacterial infection.
