Ok. So your child got into reptiles or you want one for yourself. :bd: It depends on the person. For example, if you are freaked out by insects a Beardie might not be the right choice for you ;) So lets start with a few categories that will help you decide whether it is the right pet for you.

Cost

No matter how good the pet, all pets will have expenses. If you have no equipment, expect to spend around $500-$800 and possibly more. You will need decor and hides, a basking spot, a UVB light, a thermometer, food (insects and greens), and the list goes on. I would also recommend a hygrometer to monitor the humidity so it doesn't get too high. You should also set aside a couple hundred dollars as a vet fund just in case it gets sick or injured.

Personality

Bearded Dragons are similar to humans in a few ways.
Each one has their own personality. There is no way to guarantee a friendly Bearded dragon, or an aggressive one. In general, they are passive pets. But you must be prepared for a not-so-friendly pet. Don't let this factor make you decide! There will be little beardies with different personalities all around!

Care

While there is no way to describe it, Bearded Dragon care is varying. You will have to do lots of research to ensure your dragon is living proper care. Now back to the bugs... I don't know what to say but please feed some sort of insect to your Bearded dragon! This is necessary in their diet and they cannot grow properly without it.

Overall, I hope this article helped you decide whether a bearded dragon is the right pet for you. So the big answer is up to you! Are bearded dragons good pets?
