Don't be afraid to call and check on him. If I was you I would be there everyday to visit him. He is yous and you have the right to check on him.

LOL, I also go visit my cats at the vet when they have surgery and have to stay the night! :D

I did go see him and they said that the vet put him on a week quarantine and that they are giving him a protein boost thing to try and increase his appetite...but I am planning on going to see him everyday

I dont see anything from your thread and you just had him for a few days so I dont think it was you. You did everything you could and got him to a vet so try not to blame yourself. It could have been a number of things.

So sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up, it sounds like he was sick when you got him.

He was he smallest in the tank and I thought it was cuz the big guys were just being bullies and eating all his food but looking back it makes more sense.

I've had a beardie die that I bought from PETsMART only a few days of having him, then another get sick after they replaced,my first beardie. I watched them put the second one back with the other beardies. I really don't trust PETsMART, I would not buy another animal there ever again. I'm sorry you lost your beardie. My best advice would be to pick the largest healthiest one out of the bunch.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know we get so attached very quickly. Even though I have had snakes for years I was surprised how much I fell for my beardie just in a matter of days. I hope this doesn't deter you from trying again. I would avoid that particular store though- I'm not suggesting they were definately at fault but it certainly is possible that there is a problem with either how they are keeping their dragons or even how the supplier was keeping them. I agree with the above poster that plump is better in baby dragons. Look for one that is well hydrated (can't see spine, not wrinkly), alert and rounded (plump). Again I'm very sorry about your dragon:(

I wad irritated because they said that almost half of them die because of problems with shipping. And I just think if u know that u have this problem where something u do is causing animals to die shouldn't u try to do something to improve the process! Anyways I hope to get another one in the future but not just yet.

Sorry for your loss. It's not your fault. :( Don't blame or beat yourself up over it. He probably was sick to begin with. I have a new 2-3 month old baby who's coming around and bonding with me.
