What is a Bearded Dragon?

Bearded Dragon Care

Bearded Dragon is the common name for any agamid lizard in the genus Pogona. They are native to the Continent of Australia. Bearded Dragons are extremely popular exotic pets in many places, notably the species Pogona vitticeps, also known as the Inland or Central Bearded Dragon. Bearded Dragons are also affectionately called "Beardies" by those who breed or raise them. They are a popular breed among children, because of their friendly and very calm nature.

Bearded Dragons can be great pets with long life spans of around 10 years with good care.  They tend to become attached to their owners and often like to be held.

 Bearded Dragon Diet

Bearded Dragon Care

Bearded Dragons have very specific needs.  They require such things as heat lamps, full specrum lighting, a balanced diet, a healthy habitat and love and care.  But don't let this deter you from them.  Bearded Dragons make great companions as pets and become much like the family dog over time.  They are fun, exciting, funny and loving pets that really interact with humans quite well.  Infact they are arguabley on of the most caring pets of any cold-blooded animals.  Bearded Dragon Care consists of balance and consistancy, we recommend taking part in our bearded dragon forum to ask and answer questions about bearded dragon care and information.
