I have a 48"x24"x18" enclosure. Im thinking of mounting a 24" fixture for UVB and possibly cutting 2 or 3 6" holes in the top for basking and heat lamps. Would this be a good enclosure or any suggestions to make it a better a home would be greatly appreciated. I'm preparing to be a first time owner and want to give my new friend the best home possible.

You want distance 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor inside- for a T 5 uvb 24" is good

Welcome to the forum :) , whats it made out of? Id lighten up the background somehow (i have cork bark tile and a sand matt to add some realistic touch) cork tubes are also wonderful.
