I'm just curious what everyone uses for a basking bulb. I'm testing out some now but i know once i get a larger tank i will need a new bulb. For my leopard tortoise i use 75w outdoor flood bulb and either a regular incandescent bulb or indoor flood bulb for my box turtle and bearded dragon.

I got tired of trying bulb after bulb. At one point I could have opened up my own light bulb store. I have the best luck with the Zoomed basking bulbs. I have never had any problems with them and they last a long time for me.

I use an Iwasaki Eye ColourArc 70w metal halide, but I think the bulbs you are using for your tortoise work just fine. Always try for the widest bulb face you can get, so a PAR 38 or so.
