I’m worried about my baby, Malia. She has been acting very weird lately, she hasn’t been very active at all. And it seems like she is very weak. I have been feeding her correctly with calcium dust and salads and insects as well. I even went and bought a new uvb and basking lamp today because i did some research and it said it could be because the temperatures and the uvb. But she’s still acting the same! I also noticed her tail is very dark compared to the rest of her body today. Can anyone help me!!?

Too many things look wrong...especially the state that your dragon is in. Need to know what you set up and your temps look like to better judge what’s going on but in all honesty, your dragon is VERY underweight.

yes i have noticed that as well, i have cut back on insects because i read they could cause impaction which was what i had originally thought it could’ve been. but her basking temp was also a little low, i bought a new 150w today n her temps are nearly 105 now. i also bought that uvb because i read abt metabolic bone disease, another thing i thought may be wrong. but i’m not so sure anymore.

i have got her on a mostly salad diet right now, feeding her some kale, dandelion greens, with fruit mixed in when available. sometimes putting a mealworm or two in to encourage her to eat more. idk what’s wrong with her :(

This is Cleo the male (I didn’t know the sex at the time) and Neffy.

105-110 degrees should be the basking temps not ambient. Uvb is a must through out their lives...these are the best supplements

Bugs WILL NOT impact your dragon given the proper husbandry. Have you taken them for a fecal? Internal pest are the worst and this may be your best bet. What’s your enclosure look like?

it looks like you have a very sick and malnourished dragon, the base of the tail has no fat stores and his legs aren't healthy looking either. you really need to get him to the vet asap there is something wrong and needs to have medical care. there are other insects you can feed that are easier to digest , such as hornworms, butterworms, silk worms, dubia roaches, wax worms.
you can try syringe feeding some organic baby food like sweet potatoes, butter nut squash and try sprinkling some bee pollen on his food to help with energy. but please have him checked out by a reptile experienced vet soon.

This is sad
You’re right, it is. Thank you all for your help. I thought i was taking adequate care of her but it turns out I was not. I had to make a rough decision but I have decided to turn her in to a local rescuer. They assured me they would get her what she needed. I don’t know where I went wrong and I didn’t even know where to start to get her healthy. I don’t have much spare money either. I figured this would be best. Once again, thank you all for helping me before I made anything worse. Malia and I appreciate it.

Tough call. But likely the best one for the dragon. I wish her and you well.

It was a very tough call, but it had to be made. Thank you for your help especially, seeing your dragons made me really realize how bad she was. You saved her life man, we appreciate you.
