Hi, I was just curious as to what is the best basking bulb that uses the least amount of electricity. I don't have a ton of money, and I need a good lamp for my Juvenile beardie, Megumi. Also, how many lamps do I need for her tank? It is a little more than 2.5 feet in length and 13 inches tall. I was also wondering how big she has to be before I need to buy her a bigger tank. what do the size proportions need to be between tank and bearded dragon?

Please give me the width of the tank-- do you know the gallon size? - basking bulbs are trial and error - you want a clear bright white basking bulb - you need a digital probe thermometer to get those surface basking temps - small tanks are hard to get temps in - if this tank is like a 10 gallon it is way to small now - I would move her to a 20 gallon tank that is going to be easier to keep temps in than a 10 gallon --- she is going to grow out of either of those tanks by the time she is 5 months old and that is pushing it -- you can try a regular house hold bulb but I would not use a 100 watt bulb on a real small tank - I used the Exo Terra Intense basking bulb 75 watt on my 20 gallon tank - but you must have a digital probe thermometer to get the temp you dont want to burn her up -- the bulbs I posted are from Walmart

So it would be a 20 gallon tank - your going to need to use a 75 watt I am thinking -- and a long tube fixture a 24" Zoo Med w/ the 5.0 that can be used till the dragon moves to a bigger tank - then the bulb would need to be changed to a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 for a 40 gallon + tank - the 5.0 needs to be unobstructed and directly over the basking decor 6-8 inches -- I did not use my screen when I had my 20 gallon set up I had the basking bulb clamped on the end of the tank w/ the UVB sitting width wise across the tank like this-- she needs to have basking temps 105-110 for now till shes about 5-6 months then adjust them to 95-100 -- please get the digital probes for an accurate surface basking temps - IR guns are good but cannot read off of certain materials -
