My beardie recently have been limping on his front right arm and I ended up taking him to a reptile specialist & he told me it could be broken and if I cannot afford a vet I need to "splint" the arm .. as of 3 days ago it's been in a cast and he seemed to be able to walk on it again while the swelling still didn't go down , but today I noticed his left arm starting to swell and it's forming a small bump on the bottom like the right , so I looked up on google and it was saying calcium deficiency and as hours today went by he is now laying that arm back and laying on it just how he was doing the right in the beginning. What can I do to help him ?? I cannot afford another vet visit and I don't want him to suffer !! :(

Please take the splint off -- it could be gout w/ both swelling of the front legs now - first what are you feeding for insects? Next what is the uvb your using? Coil or long tube fixture? The gout if this is what it is would need to have a blood test done for uric acid levels- the dragon would need to go on allopurinol to bring the levels done this the swelling- your uvb is is going to help w/ this as well but we need to determine first if this is the cause - the vet you took him to did not take x-rays to see if it was broke? I recommend a different vet here is a website to find a reptile vet if your in a small area type in a bigger cities zip code closest to you- in the meantime please go over all your lighting and surface basking temps-- is the dragons legs sore to touch ?

Calcium deficiency or a from NOT using the proper UVB light & not replacing it every 6Mnths order the Reptisun 10.0 T5 the length should cover 79 percent of the tank and needs replacing every 6 months. Alll UVB bulbs need replacing every 6 months or the Beardie will have brittle bones, be ainbake to eat or walk, wont be abke to absorb Vitamin D and calcium and willeventually die. Please find a way to pay for the vet or relinquish him to a vet so they can give him proper care. Get a new UvB asap and get him into the vet. Beardies are a lot of wrk and maintenance and need big cages, water and poop cleaned immediately, baths twice a week in dechlorinated water using Reptisafe drops, misting 2-3 times a day, fresh veggies everyday & proteins twice a week as adults, and the long Reptisun 10.0 T5 UVB changed out every 6 mnths. If u can’t afford the vet visit how are u affording changing the UVB? He will get brittle bones and b unable to walk move or eat and get metabolic home disease very quickly. Please give him proper care

If vet didn't do an x-ray, they can't say it's broken. And to have other limb swollen, I'm thinking it could be gout. The only way we can solve this is to get more info from you. Picture of your enclosure, what lights are you using including uvb. What is the diet like? Too much dubias can cause gout. Please reply.

I'm sorry but beardies are dessert/dry animals. Please don't bathe regularly nor mist. They don't and can't have high humidity. That will lead to respiratory issues.

Did the vet take an x-ray to see if the limb was broken? If not, they can't tell.
The swelling in the legs/feet found be due to high uric acid levels causing gout. This can be checked with a blood test and can be treated.
If it is uric acid, make sure to give him plenty veggies such as spring greens, dandelions, endive. Don't offer roaches. Make sure he's well hydrated. He still will need meds though if the levels are high.
The way he's lying on his foot in the picture isn't an issue. My Karl's been doing this since he was a baby.

Beardies are taken out of their cage and bathed twice a week in a tub or sink. Also they need to be sprayed and misted twice a day & more baths when they are shedding. We rescue and rehome otherwise & this needs to be done otherwise the shed will stick and cut off their circulation. Also u can keep a tray of water in their cage so they can splash and go in and out as they wish. And of course u remove all food and water bowls before they go to bed otherwise they can get an URInfection.

You got it all wrong. Beardies are dry shedders. If there's layers of "stuck" shed then yes you should do baths or humid hides. But they are not tropical animals to get misted like that. Or need soaks regularly.

So you believe everything that Google says? And if your vet says that too then I'd find a better vet. I'm actually in my last year of becoming a vet, specializing in herps.
That's OK, I'm not here to argue with you. Just trying to help people like you to improve your care. Husbandry and care of reptiles are always changing and improving. Don't stick with outdated sources please.
