I'm a little confused on the surface temp vs temp of tank. So when I hit my infrared thermometer gun on a particular surface in enclose its different from what the general thermometer is in the tank. So
for basking am I looking for the surface temp or general temp on that side shud be in 100'. I can easily get 100-107 surface Temps but struggle to maintain general temp on that side to that temp

You want surface basking temps of 95-100 for a 6 month old + dragon taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- the ambient temps in the tank should be on hot side around 100 and downward to 90' s or so and middle of the tank around 90's and cool side of the tank 80ish-- those can be taken w / a analog or a IR gun doing spot checks around those areas -- I use all three gauges analog digital probe and IR gun--
