Stopped closing eyes (read)

Whenever I used to pet gobi he would close his eyes and still be alert by the look of his tail. Now I can kiss him a lot on his head and beard area and he doesn’t even close his eyes and he doesn’t try to run or anything. Is this a sign of trust because he’s keeping his eyes open instead of closing them?
