My little dude is 5 years old. 2 weeks ago the scales near the end of his tail were scratched off in an incident that I'd rather not go into. It bled a little, then got much darker, which I assume is a scab of sorts while it heals. Then I learned about tail rot/tail necrosis. While I'm away at school my mom has been treating it with a betadine bath and neosporin twice a day. It's not getting better, but it's not getting worse. The tip of the tail after the injury looks alright as well. For more of a history: his tail was also broken by our dog when he was a baby, so it's always been at a sharp angle at this spot, but the loss of scales make it look more drastic than it actually is. I really can't afford to spend $80 just to take him for a check up, let alone to pay for treatment. I read online that tail necrosis this close to the end of the tail will sometimes just fall off and as long as I keep putting neosporin on it until then, it'll be okay. Thoughts?
