My 8 month old seems to have drastically slowed down on the shedding and is approaching his adult size. He is currently in a 40 gallon tank and we need to upgrade. I have so many questions… does he really need 120gallon? Or would a 75 gallon be enough?

I want to have the UVB light on the outside so need the ReptiSun 10.0 T5, but what watt do I need with the bigger tank? Also are all T5s HO?

Do I need more heat/basking lights with a bigger enclosure? Would the watts be different for a proper gradient?

Any recommendations for enclosures and where to purchase would be great! Local pet stores don’t sell enclosures over 55gallons. A front opening is important? What about the zen habitats with the wooden interior?

Thank you so much!

I recommend the 120 gallon I am posting website for tanks -- surface basking temps are trial and error w/ tanks / temps in the room hes in the list goes on so you will haft to try different wattages for temps- I do not like basking bulbs in the tank as you can see mine are on top of the screen -- posting a pic of one of my tanks its a Zen Habitat -- any tank over 55 gallon the UVB needs to be inside -- you do not want a tank w/ a height of 16" --- 24" is best - dragons like floor space not height

this comes w/ a 22" UVB we recommend 24"
please ask more questions I will help you out as much as I can

So even the ReptiSun 10.0 T5 needs to be inside the cage?
Yes distance of 12-15 inches for a 75 gallon tank or bigger --- if its a smaller tank like one w/ a height of 18" and wide hole screen it can stay on top anything over 18" it needs to be inside

Don’t I need height if I’m mounting the light in the enclosure? Don’t they like to climb?

Okay. We are currently trying to mount the T8 inside the enclosure but I’m so confused because it’s going to be so close to the top of the rock. Can we mount it to the side, not directly over the highest point of the rock?

Place the uvb directly on top screen is off ? You can place it vertical put a piece of decor directly under it 6-8 inches

The screen was off as we were mounting the UVB to it. I thought the decor needed to be at least 12 inches from the light. Also, I don’t want it directly under the basking light correct?

For a T 8 you need 6-8 inches -- for a T 5 12 - 15 inches -- the T 8 has to be unobstructed --- and no you dont want it under the basking light its going to melt it --

It looks good but you need a piece of basking decor under it that is not so high --- that tree branch you have in there does he use that to sit on -- is this the T 5 or the T 8? I am posting some basking decor pieces for your tank - and I am gathering this is the 40 gallon tank --- hes too big for it --

https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/re...decor-54734.html?cgid=50080102&fmethod=Browse I use 2 of these in the tanks of mine - both dragons love them and utilize them -- I have the big thick trunk under the basking light w/ the long stick part laying on the floor of the tank- - https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/re...decor-55913.html?cgid=50080102&fmethod=Browse I also use these -- they sit on them or rest their heads on them too --
