Tell me what u guys think.

Thanks Rob

Looks like it will suffice for a short time before you have to upgrade to give both that much floor area each. It does not appear that the UVB placement is anywhere near to being effective. This may help ...

Can't see the fixture in the pics, regardless, the desert 50 is only rated at a max of 12" from the center portion of a NEW uncovered bulb, no screen & with the acrylic cover removed. With the clear cover left in place over the bulb, you lose another 10% of the UVB output, on top of the possible 50% blocked/reflected/filtered out by the screen. There is no UVB reaching your BDs in that setup, they would have to get within less than 4" of the screen directly below the bulb to get any.

UVB will not pass through solid filters such as Glass or Plastic, the cover is supposed to be a specially formulated acrylic that will allow most to pass through, blocking approximately 10%. If you have the original packaging, there should have been a sticker on it, stating to remove the cover for full UVB & UVA (Basically nothing more than White light).

You also have to remember that a UVB bulb quickly loses it's effectiveness as it ages with use & is why they must be regularly replaced.

Glad to see that you lost the particle substrate & acquired decent thermometers ...
