Hi there I have recently purchased a bearded dragon and vivarium. The viv has a uvb strip light a night time basking light and just next to that a day time one. Can anyone help me with the difference between the 2 apart from one gives off a glow and the other doesn't. Do I actually need to have both?

There are folks on here much more educated on BD's than I am but I'll share what knowledge I have. I wouldn't have a light on at night. They prefer darkness to sleep. The only reason you'd need to provide any heat source at night is if the temps inside the enclosure get below 60-65 degrees(F). If a heat source is needed for nighttime, use a Cermaic Heat Emitter (CHE).

Jdubclark is right. They need to sleep in total darkness so there is no need for the night time light. A CHE is good to have on hand if the temps in the tank get below 65 degrees at night. CHE's don't give off light but heat.
