do beardies change colors? Our little guy (a rescue) is normally a lovely reddish brown with a cream belly and chin...but just recently he starts going black every once in awhile! Am I doing something wrong? He seems super happy and active...

Not to worry – they change colours for all sorts of reasons. When my girl gets warm she's a beautiful orange colour. When she's asleep in her cage alone she's almost black. Right now she is asleep on my leg and kind of mottled light black/dark orange. If they're happy if they're hungry if they're warm if they're cold et cetera

Yes they are always changing color. Usually when they are soaking up the UV either outside or under their light, they will get black. You're guy also looks like he's shedding his tail and his front legs and his chin a little. He's very pretty :)

I still have freak outs over mine! Dexter had some yellow patches on her belly and I thought it was yellow fungus. Only to realize that she had been sitting in her salad bowl and I had put bee pollen on her salad that morning!

Sometimes they go black too if they aren't happy but this is normally their neck and chest.
