I have a reptisun 10.0 tube bulb and am using a regular bulb for the basking bulb. that's ok right. the reptile bulbs re expensive and i read that they are no different. just wanted to make sure.
yes the regular white light household bulbs are fine for basking lights. You just need to make certain that the basking temps are sitting where they need to be. Sometimes you have to play with the wattage/size bulb you are using. But for a short answer no there is no reason to spend more on the "reptile" basking bulbs when they are just spot lamps that cost more.
Just chiming in that it is all about the heat when it comes to basking bulbs. As long as you get the basking temps in the right range, you are good to go!
