Hi All, thought id join as have been reading a lot of posts on here!

Just got my baby bearded dragon yesterday, his names Buzz ( our dogs called Woody, from toy story!) been amazing today, but also bit stressed out wondering if we have done everything right lol!

Got loads of questions to ask if that's ok?

He ( or she?) ate 5 crickets today, didn't go near the greens/ veg in his dish, i dangled a few bits in front of him and he happily munched them thou, and i have a little dropper/ syringe he licked some water from, is that normal?

I didn't want to disturb him too much, how much is too much, is there certain times its a no no and leave him alone?

Also is it normal for his eyes to be shut a lot like he is sleeping?

Can you tell me what kind of thermometer i need to get, the pet shop gave me a stick on one, which i put in the middle of the viv, its sitting at around 90 degrees, was thinking of getting another one, and placing one on hot side and one on cool side?

Here's a pic of him earlyer, he sat with his mouth open holding out his tongue for ages it seemed, not best quality as its off my phone

Anyone know why he has his tongue out?

Good show, Man !
Do check all your lighting and heat before buying though.. Also, the strip thermometer isn't good enough...you'll want one of these instead:

http://www.shelledwarriorsshop.co.uk/lucky-reptile-thermometer---hygrometer-deluxe-780-p.asp

This will measure both the temps and the humidity in the enclosure...
Just set the probe for heat and leave for 45 minutes for an accurate temp reading.
Leave the probe for humidity on the cool side for constant readings.
Cheers Mate !

HI, Davy. Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your beardie. They are loads of fun!!!! And no worries about your questions. Keep them coming. How else can you learn?

A lot of babies will not eat their greens. Continue to offer them daily. When they reach adulthood, greens will be the daily staple of their diets. Play around with the different salad mixtures to see what interests him.

Is he closing both eyes or one eye? If it is one, he is focusing on his new surroundings and taking it in.

The stick ons can be off by 20 degrees. The digital probe thermometer is pretty accurate.

They stick their tongues out to regulate their body heat. Basking side should be 100-105F and cool side 85F.

What UV light did you buy?

As far as handling, it as much as you think your dragon can handle. He is probably going through relocation stress. It can last from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. He ate a couple crickets, so that is good. Make sure all your food is no larger than the space between his eyes.
