HERE IS A VIDEO!!!! Please watch and help me
I don’t know if it’s cause he is having trouble swallowing or not. And I can’t quite afford a vet right now so close to ChristmasCan you tell if he's having trouble swallowing? Are you able to get him to an exotics vet?
I can try. I can’t afford a vet cause I’m only 17.You need to get him into the vet --- apply for care credit if you haft to most vets take care credit but he needs to be seen
You need to have your parents help then -+ what is he doing now? Still black beard?
He has tile at the bottom of his cageWhat are you using for substrate?
Is that all thats in there --- has been out of his tank and maybe eaten something out of the tank? Has he gotten any better ? This is a terrible time for things to be happening now as most of the people are not on the forums now ----
Thank you!!!I will send a message to Brandon on bearded dragon.org -- and some others --
He has the aqua culture, ceramic heat emmitter. 100 wTracie the vet mod has responded to your post on beardeddragon forum - as well as Brandon -- please tell me what lighting your using for a UVB? If its a coil you need to get rid of it -----------this is what you need
Which UVB light should I use?
The best UVB light is a ReptiSun 10.0 fluorescent tube HO (Or Arcardia 12% in the UK). Compact or coil bulbs do not emit the proper amount of UVB light for a bearded dragon, and should not be used. Other brands, such as the Zilla Desert Series and ReptiGlo have been known to cause eye problems and other health issues with bearded dragons, and should be avoided. The reason that some UVB lights (Zilla, ReptiGlo, coils/compacts, ect.) are considered dangerous is because the wavelength of UVB that they emit is shorter and more intense than the wavelength of the "safe" lights (ReptiSun, Arcadia). UVB lights should be replaced every 6 months. The T5’s are a strong bulb and only need to be replaced once a year – the T 8 every 6 months--- where as the T 8 are not as strong—they need to be placed inside the tank the T 5 10.0 bulb approx 12-15 inches from basking spot inside the tank – the T 8 approx 6-8 inches from basking spot inside the tank —the cover needs to be off the bulb for full effect of the UVB rays-- also for futuer reference I would book mark this website -- its to find a vet in your area --- a good one
www.https://arav.org/
Please post pics of your tank and lighting --- ASAP--- you need a good bright white basking bulb and a good UVB of which I posted already -- a heat emitter is only keeping the tank warm and you should have basking temps of 95-105 for your dragon to properly digest his food and a UVB to help them absorb the calcium --if you do not have any of this lighting this is why your dragon is so sick[/QUOTE
Ok so the one light that isn’t lighting up produces heat but doesn’t emit light. And the one that is lighting up is just a regular light bulb to let him have light
Okay I’m gonna go to pet smart todayYour dragon cannot digest his food --- you dont have the proper lighting in that tank --- you need to get a bright white basking bulb like this
You need a digital probe to get accurate temps 95-105------------ Petsmart has them for around $5--- please get one so you can get accurate temps you dont want to burn him up- I need to know the tbe your getting so I can help w/ distance and placement of the fixture --- I hope the fixture has a reflector on it as it will do no good w/ out one --- they look like this
and the digital probe like this
all this plays a huge role in your dragons health --- please get all this and tell me what bulb is coming-what size is your tank ???? I would start w/ a 100 watt but make sure you have that probe it needs to sit on the basking spot for 10 minutes where he sits
His poop good. And we got reptisun 10.0 UVBOk good - what does his poops look like? The reason for the stop eating is NO UVB --- he has no way to absorb the calcium of what your feeding ----- poops should look like this firm moist dark -- urate firm moist and white not dry or chalky----- what UVB did you get ?????????????????
T 5 or a T8 distance needs to be different for bulb please tell me
Please take the coil back it is no good and going to cause more issues in the long run----- you need this
w/ a hood fixture w/ reflector like this
and did you get a digital probe thermometer - like this
that coil is NO GOOD for a UVB -- they kill more dragons than I can count ---- you do not need a 50 watt bulb for the cool side of the tank - if you want light on that side of the tank use a regular household bulb the old style NO LED 60 watt --- take the 50 watt back ---- and please get the lighting I showed you those coils often cause eye issues ---------------
Yes the basking bulb is fine its the UVB ---- the coil I showed pics of what you need --- that coil bulb is NO GOOD --- you need a long TUBE and you dont need a 50 watt bulb on the cool side of the tank --- you dont want that tank too hot I have no heat bulbs on my cool side of the tank you need a digital probe thermometer ----------- did you get one --- you want that cool side of the tank 80 during the day ---- nite time not below 65 if it drops below 65 at nite then you need to get a Ceramic Heat Emitter they look like this -- they produce no light and only emit heat --- what are your temps running in that tank ?
Yes I forgot that you had the che-- but you need that digital probe therm did you get that ?
You can get the 26 watt coil- it needs to be in a reflector dome and 6-8 inches from basking spot- I have not heard bad things yet about the 26 watt-- but I recommend what I know works and that is the Reptisun 10.0 either the T 8 or T 5 Tube--- the 13 watt that you bought are terrible and have killed so many dragons -- go to this website and look at the hood/ fixture - it's $32 - www.pangeareptiles.com- let me know if that would work- these people are good and fast
Any specific 26 watt coil??You can get the 26 watt coil- it needs to be in a reflector dome and 6-8 inches from basking spot- I have not heard bad things yet about the 26 watt-- but I recommend what I know works and that is the Reptisun 10.0 either the T 8 or T 5 Tube--- the 13 watt that you bought are terrible and have killed so many dragons -- go to this website and look at the hood/ fixture - it's $32 - www.pangeareptiles.com- let me know if that would work- these people are good and fast
