So I went to the San Diego show this weekend and talked to one of the breaders who said she does not use white heat lamps because they burn out quick and that when they go out they "shatter"??
Is that what happen's? Anyone else experience this?
And while I am on the subject of heating what are the pros/cons of using a red heat lamp or a ceramic heat emitter instead of a white light heater, or using it for a night heater (for when nights get to cold)

Never heard about a heat lamp shattering....was it a CHE? At night time if the beardie needs heat use a CHE....they don't like 'colored' lights at night. The 'red' light at night is another PS issue. I was told by a PS 'reptile' specialist that they 'need' a red light at night....NOT!!

Never heard or experienced an issue with a shattering issue of white lights in the 10 years I've been in the hobby. BDs thrive on bright white light, that is basically what UVA is.

Never had an issue with any of my halogen flood lamps which emit bright white basking light, and Pat is right. No colored light, it bothers their eyes and their sleep cycles. A CHE is what is recommended for night time heat.
