Um....not to sound creepy but do you have a picture of it? It would quite possibly be a seminal plug. I hear that is something that happens with boys (although I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with that yet). Maybe good warm soak will help it come out?

Had he just pooped? Has it gone back in? I can't really tell from the picture but it could also be a small prolapse. I would give him a good soak and take a q-tip and put some vaseline or neosporin (without menthol) around the area. Do a long warm soak with a little bit of sugar in it to help shrink the area. You'll have to give another plain water soak afterwards so he's not sticky. I would also put paper towel down in his tank to help keep the area clean.

I have a frog that gets prolapse if he eats crickets that are too big for him. This is similar to what we do for him.

I think you need to take him to the vet it should have gone back in by now, it's been a few weeks.

Has he pooped since this happened? Have you given him baths?

A prolapse is when the animals insides start to come out. It's incredibly dangerous and often fatal. The area often needs surgery in order to heal properly. Get to a vet asap.

PatsyB, how often does your frog prolapse? A large cricket should not cause a prolapse, it is an indication of an underlying health condition. Possible internal parasites? I suggest you get your frog to a vet before it's too late.

Actually like snakes with RI problems, alot of reptiles are more susceptible to certain health problems. Patsy just has a hard pooper

I personally own frogs myself. Trust me, it's not normal. A "hard pooper" would indicate possible parasites, or feeders with a hard shell such as meal worms. A large amount of frogs die shortly after a prolapse.
