How much gaping is to much for a bearded dragon, cause my Mushu likes to sit on his basking log and just gape a lot

Its normal to gape under the heat lamp, hes regulating his temp
is he’s doing it on the cold side of the enclosure then u need to go down there in wattage on his bulb.
