Hey all! I posted in introductions. I was saying I recently adopted my Squiggly wiggly from my son. I’m just wondering if I feed him enough. He gets his salad in the am and when I get home from work (5ish if I have later clients) I either feed him 10 crickets or 5-6 mealworms. He seems a good size he’s a pain in the for drinking. Jake (my son) had him on this schedule. Squiggles is a year and a half old. Am I feeding him enough?

How old is Squiggly? If hes a year or under he needs as many insects he will eat w/ salads offered every day -- insects need to be dusted 5 x per week w/ calcium D3 one time per day -- he should be fed 2-3 times per day -- please rinse the salads before serving he will get moisture from the greens - watch his poop it will tell you if hes dehydrated - poop should be formed moist and dark urate white formed and moist - if its dried out looking hes dehydrated -- No coils for a UVB they are a health hazard -- surface basking temps should be 95-100 for a 6 month old and up taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- I can post 3 good UVB's if you need the links --- everything I posted about temps and UVB are crucial to his survival and staying healthy

Thank you so much Sadie. Is that 2-3 times a day including salad? I do dust his insects. Thank you. He’s a year and a half old. Love to see your ideal set up. I always worry about lighting. So yes please to the lamp links.

For over a year he needs insects 2-3 times per week and salads every day --- here are 3 good UVB's to choose from
24" fixture for a 40 + gallon tank
Zoo Med this will come w / a 5.0 bulb you need the Reptisun 10.0 bulb I will post the link for that as well
https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...o-med-reptisun-t5-hood?variant=26907425734756
22" bulb https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...d-reptisun-10-0-uvb-t5?variant=26907418591332
or this one it can also be found at Pet Smart you want the 12% bulb 24 watt - they are out on this site
https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle.../products/arcadia-prot5-12-uvb-bulb-with-hood
or this fixture you want the 2 ft or 24" the bulb needs to be replaced w/ the link I posted above for the Reptisun 22"
https://hydrobuilder.com/sunblaster...mp.html?opts=eyJhdHRyaWJ1dGU5MDEiOiI2NjEwIn0=
When you get the fixture please post back on here the placement and distance will be determined by the screen on your tank
The UVB also determines the calcium being given -- what has he had for a UVB? The UVB helps them use the calcium hes getting - if hes had a coil hes not been getting adequate calcium --- how is he eating salads? Any vitamins been given to him as well ?

Thank you so much Sadie. I’m very blessed he does not have a coil light for uvb. It was very reassuring to see that, that was the right fixture. My son gave him to me at a year and a half old with a really good set up. Thanks for elaborating on the diet advice. Lol this lil guy is like my grandson now *loves*

He loves his time roaming around my room out of the tank, any advice as to a time restraint on that?
