Hello everyone
My 1 and a something year old beardie Spike has been refusing to eat dubia roaches. He looks at them, and like a picky toddler, he narrows his eyes and turns his head up and away.
Let me give you some context:
I bought him some mealworms as a treat, admittedly I fed him the a little too often. Between them I fed him his usual dubia roaches, which he devoured. One day, about a week ago he didn't want to eat them (dubias) anymore. I've heard of them refusing the regular stuff to get the good stuff, so I didn't feed him any more mealworms and continued to try to give him the roaches. Every time the same thing happened. But I persevered. I've heard that pets are like their owners, he's stubborn but so am I.
Anyways a week later he is still refusing, so naturally I get a little worried. Side note: his uvb was coming up to a year so I ordered it and installed it today.
Therefore, I decide to give him the only other bug that we have: mealworms. I do this to make sure that it's not something generally wrong that causes him to not eat. Thankfully, this wasn't the case and the little 'rascal' ( or b*****d if you will) are them all in less than a minute.
So now my question is, what can I do?
As I have said I have installed a new uvb, I also plan on buying locusts when I get the chance.
He eats a lot of greens and his basking temp is ~40 and the cool side is ~25. Of course now it is very hot so I've taken measures to cool him down when I can see he is hot.
As mentioned I have heard that they can refuse the regular stuff to get the good stuff (I think WWR said his bearded dragon didn't eat bugs for 3 months because she wanted wax worms).
Any advice, personal experience or anything else will be really appreciated!

(Ps. The pool below was the right temp, cleaned and only he went in it. He was also watched very carefully)

They will do this - keep offering the dubias and I would offer another staple feeder like silk worms or crickets of which I hate those things - I would lower the hot side to around 95-100 as they get older around 6 months they dont like the real hot temps and increase the cool side to 80 during the day - that 77 degree is more for a night time temp --

Thank you,
I also hate crickets, I had them once and never again
Now that you mention it I have noticed that he doesn't really like to bask much so I will definitely try lower it.
