So I keep getting conflicting answers when I try to do research and basically just want to know whether or not I need to take him to the vet. He's been moody, but he's also shedding so I'm not sure if that's the only reason why, but he doesn't seem bothered otherwise. I gave him a bath not too long ago to try to help with these. Do I just stick with baths until they work themselves out or does he need a vet visit? And if he doesn't, at what point  does he need one? He has wood/logs in his enclosure too to rub against, I read that that's helpful.

More/better pictures can be taken if need be, he just hates baths and is cranky as it is so I tried my best not to bother him too much when taking the pictures.

You have a female and they arent that bad -- its when they get to be protruding - females dont have the problem w/ them like males do because they secrete a wax like out of the pore - they look flat so they are fine - she can rub on the log or some other basking decor to either loosen it out etc -- as far as bathing too may baths will dry their scales out - you can take a spray bottle spray then take a soft baby tooth brush and gently brush - let the scales bet crackly and dry and it will come off --- NEVER peel tho -- you can cause damage to the scales and or get them to bleed and you do not want that -

I've gotten conflicting answers on the sex too lol the vet said he's a hermaphrodite, but I just stuck with male pronouns. Not arguing with you whatsoever 'cause I wasn't entirely sure about that either, but back to the issue! There are a couple that are protruding a little, but they do seem like they'll just fall out if there's enough friction (I know not to try and extract them myself). No inflammation or anything else that I can see. I don't normally bathe him when shedding, just thought it'd be helpful with the combination he has going on so I don't bathe him regularly, don't worry!
Thank you for being so helpful!

From the vent picture she looks like a her along with the small femoral pores - post another pic of vent on flat surface like a kitchen table and tail in air - let's make sure

Looks like a male to me. Use a flashlight like the pic I attached.
