So I'm pretty sure I'm making the purchase of a bearded dragon this coming up weekend, I've read different thoughts but for those of you who have owned babies and adults which would be the best to start. I was thinking of a sub adult so that way they're still young but have a good size to them.

I've only had one beardie and I got him when he was a couple months old at 11 inches. I love the size I got him at. He was already accustomed to handling and was eating well on greens. Babies seem a bit docile and I think it would have caused more problems for me personally. Though I raised my leopard geckos all from early-late baby stages and would never trade that experience. An adult would have been cool, but I love that I've watched my Apollo grow 6.75 inches and put on weight like no other as well as watch his colors become more and more vibrant :) . But in the end, it is all what you're comfortable with. So long as you are dedicated to taking care of it, I think any age would be okay, though yes older dragons are much hardier :)

Thanks for the response! I also had a couple Leo's that I got as a baby and watched them grow, I just have that feeling that that I want a sub adult so that way I can still watch them grow but they won't need as much work. And I think I enjoy the looks of them as an adult more than a baby
