I don't recommend slate it gets very hot - please take a probe on a digital probe thermometer and get the temp on the slate-

Ok, update on the placement. I moved it back to its original position and looked at the placement of the screens. They're both 10 gallon metal mesh screens. I created a bridge across the top of the tank- (It had a wire mesh screen at one point. I quit using that and have been using metal wire mesh to hold the basking lamp and UVB.)
I put one screen horizontal and the other vertical. Placed the basking spot lamp on the vertical and the UVB between the side of the tank and the horizontal screen. It's completely unfiltered. The UVB fixture is reflective. I had this feeling that the other placement I had wasn't going to work. So, I decided to try this method and see what she does. She's eaten all of her squash and quite a bit of her turnip greens. I found out the UVB light won't be here until the end of August! Knowing Amazon, they're fast. Maybe it won't be here on Sept. 10.
And she liked to watch the original series, "Thunderbirds". The puppet version.
