For basking, a white or clear bulb should be used, BDs thrive on bright white light (UVA). They are not recommended for night heat either. Night heat is not needed or wanted unless your ambient room temps drop below the mid to low 60sF. Lights of any kind or color will bother most BDs sleep. Should night heat be absolutely necessary, a CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter - Heat with no light emitted) is recommended. BDs should be allowed to cool off at night, slows the metabolism down for a good nights sleep.
