Yes, I said new arrival. Chuck is going to have a sister. We are having so much fun with Chuck and we inherited another tank so we decided to put it to good use and get another beardie. She should be home tomorrow. ;D ;D But she's been on sand since birth or close to it. She is almost 4 months old and about 9 1/2 inch long. I know there has been a lot of talk about this subject and we decided to put tile in Chuck's home. There is a small area in his home that has cage carpet which is what he was on when we got him, but for the most part he is all tile now. My question is since our new baby is going to have to adjust to her new home anyway is it to much to just set her up with tile now? Should we have a small area of sand for her since that's what she is use to or can we just go tile?

Thanks and yes I will post pictures as soon as I get some,
Chuck and ?? (not sure of her name yet waiting to meet her first) Mommy.

I would just go with the change now. The newbie is already going to have to adjust anyway so I wouldnt prolong the change by waiting.

i agree with tom. i would go ahead and fully switch her to tile. She will be going through relocation stress as it is. so you should go ahead and switch her over entirely.

I agree too. However, I've seen some pretty nice setups with a portion of the viv having sand. This has been geared more towards female bearded dragons. They like to dig and burrow.

So, if you plan to go entirely with tile, go for the switch all at once. But if you entertain the idea of a small sand area, then leave some of it.

Thank you everyone,

I love this place. I think we are going to go with mostly tile, since she's a female and has been on sand I think we will give her a small amout of sand on one end of her home. It will still be mostly tile. She will be in a 55 gal tank. If it doesn't work we already had the tile cut to fit so we can just change it out a few months from now.

Thanks again :)
