Rehoming ~4 month old Beardie with MBD (East Tx, Tyler area)

Well, someone is coming get him! I spoke with her on the phone, and she seems to know what she’s doing. She’s only taking Toothless, so I’ll still have the enclosure for sale. I will make a different Craigslist ad for that, and then make a new post here.

Rehoming ~4 month old Beardie with MBD (East Tx, Tyler area)

After much thought and consideration, I believe it is in the best interest of little Toothless for me to find him a better home. I don’t have the time or finances to give him the care he needs. I’m still not sure if his health issue is MBD, or if it’s some neurological disorder. As far as I can...

No pesticides have been sprayed. The gardens don’t even have plants yet, so it’s just soil.

I’ve got some raised bed gardens in my yard. I don’t have an outdoor enclosure. I know it is bad to use loose substrate in a Beardie enclosure due to impaction risk, but is it ok to put him in the raised garden for an hour or so to bask? They are all in full sun, and I would sit next to him the...

Forgot to answer your question. No, there doesn’t seem to be any mobility difference. He is still tucking his front legs, and he is still walking strangely. He does seem quite a bit more active though. The direct sun and fresh air were definitely good for him

I am open to getting a new enclosure if it is necessary. I’ll sand the clear coat off this one too if I need to. But the point of building the enclosure myself was because I don’t have the money for a new tank. If I get him a new one, it will be later, when I have had time to save the money for...

I appreciate your detailed information. I am going to implement everything that I need to. I’m not getting him a new enclosure though. I’m keeping him out of it until it has completely cured, so the fumes will no longer be an issue. But I put money and time into this enclosure, and made sure to...

I just confirmed with a friend of mine, Toothless started acting strange about a week before I moved him to the new enclosure. My friend came over to see Toothless for the first time, and we were commenting on how odd he was acting. At that point, I had the enclosure inside, and I think I had...

I appreciate the careful advice from both of you! I do agree that DIY enclosures are fine. My problem was rushing the process and putting him in it too soon.

Thank you! I will get him some fresh air, and put the enclosure in direct sunlight for the next few days. It’s supposed to be warm and sunny all weekend, but raining all next week. I have renewed hope that he will get better. The more I consider it, the more I realize he has been acting...

I am at work right now, but if I remember correctly, the floor is 1/2 inch birch plywood, and the walls and ceiling are 1/2 wood (the boards are made of a bunch of 2 inch strips glued together). I believe the wood is hardwood, but a friend of mine said it looks like pine. I knew not to use pine...

Yes you did tell me. It was a very stupid mistake. I put 2 coats, and it aired in the sun for about 6 hours before coming inside. Then I let it sit for 24 hours before putting him in. The smell seemed to have dissipated when I moved him, but then the heat lamp caused it to smell badly again.

Is it possible he may have jumped from his basking decor to the hard floor? My beardie did this when she was a baby and sprained her front leg , but that doesn’t explain ur guys back legs... He did jump off of my bed a while ago. He was exploring, and suddenly ran full speed to the edge and just...

I believe it was an oil based epoxy clear coat. I did not let it air out as long as I should have... He was in such a small tank, and I wanted to get him in his bigger tank, so I rushed it instead of having patience. The smell is completely gone from the tank now. Could I have poisoned him by...

He was normal when I got him. He started to act a little odd about a week before I put him in the new enclosure, and it just got worse after I moved him over. He was also very lethargic for about a week after I moved him over. He has livened back up over the past couple days and isn’t lethargic...
