I think that is tail rot. You need to have him checked by a vet they may have to remove some more of the tail.

Arh rite. Have u tried yet? Boris was the same wen we got him. I filed his with a soft nail file. He didnt like it very much ar first but once id done the first hand n he relised wot id done. N it felt betta he was quite happy for me to so the rest i just done a couple of nails each day not 2 stress him out.

Where bouts in the uk u from ? I know a few vets rnd near me will do little things like cuttin nails for a donation. If u not up 2 doin it that is

I used to do that with Dexter. She'd watch me while I filed my nails and then I would do hers. At first she pulled away but then she started to let me do them a bit. It helped a little bit.
