uvb light positioned harmfully?

I herd it was good to mount a uvb tube inside the tank, so that's what I did. But now I'm thinking this mite be what's causing his eye problem. Since the light is coming from the side, not directly over head, so it's like there's always a glare in his eye? I'll post a picture of the setup. His left eye is closed often and the, membrane? Seams to be a little bigger than his good eye. Iv been washing it wish saline occasionally and sometimes I get a little clear gunk on the qtip and get it out. But it doesn't look bad or irritate

Yes, you are right you should not position the light to the side. It causes them to look at it more. It should be mounted overhead.
