T5 bulb expiry

I know the t5 bulbs have to be replaced every year for effective uvb. But let's say I used it for 6 months. Then left it for a year and went to use it again would it still have 6 months of use? Does the uvb wear out with time or use?

I've heard the tube style should be replaced every 6 months anyway? That's why we use a Mega Ray for our uromastix.

Good question, one that I don't have an answer to.

@Pete33 The larger T8 bulbs should be changed every 6 months the smaller T5 bulbs can of a full year without being changed, even if it's on top of mesh.

It will be fine. Depending on manufacturer will determine when to replace.
