Hey everybody, I went to check on Apollo and noticed that a part of his feces was covered in a pinkish red coating. Is this normal?

Could this be dehydration or parasites, or maybe constipation from too much crickets/collards? He eats maybe 15-20+ crickets a day.

hate to ask this - but - could you post a photo? I could be a number of things, but before we get excited I think a look see would be a good idea

Funny you ask. I was planning on it, but I hesitated in case it... wasn't cool to do, lol. I already cleaned it up because I did not want him to step in it or a stray cricket to eat it. I will describe it in more detail, though. It looked like red/pink wax covering a part of the feces, it was not runny, or bloody, it looked like it was hugging the feces. I thought it might be from his rep-cal bearded dragon diet, though he rarely eats it... He seems fine and not in pain or anything.

could be dehydration but typically the urates would be hard, the sample would look hard or shriveled up...
could be something he ate.
could be parasites,
could be temps not being spot on affecting the GI and the regularity of how often he goes.

Things that he eats can cause the poop to be red or black or purple. Red fruits will cause the color change and even eating those pellets could cause it even if he only eats a few. Those things are like junk food to them sorta like us eating chips as all our meals every day.
