I think mouth rot shows up on the gum tissues and it's yellow and hard. If the little guy is eating with no problem, I would just keep an eye on it and make sure he stays hydrated.
I try not keep water in cos when I took him she had a massive bowl in the Viv and the humidity was really high and now he's gulping but I bath him every other day. I've never had any health problems with mine cos their really healthy.
