Hi everyone! My name is Molly. Obviously I am new to the forum and soon to be new to bearded dragons!
My son has been asking for a reptile for over a year now so we decided to finally get him one for Christmas. His classroom last year had a leopard gecko so that was tops on his list, but I wasn't convinced that they were a good fit for us. I work at a large animal hospital and we have a very respected reptile specialist on staff so I had a lengthy conversation with her and she recommended a beardie. I have been intrigued by these guys for quite some time so it was a no brainer to go with one.
We will be giving our son the cage and a book for Christmas (we also have everything else ready to go) and then plan on getting our new pet after Christmas. I want him to be as involved in the process right from the start.I am sooooooo excited to get this little guy I am already thinking of names (is that wrong? ) And I can't wait to see my sons face when he figures out what he is getting. Christmas can't get here fast enough!
Any advice is very welcome. I breed and show english pointers, have a 125 gallon goldfish tank, am owned by an elderly cat, but this reptile stuff has me stressing out a bit.
Looking forward to being a part if this forum :)

Welcome to BDF and have no fear!! This is the best place for questions and concerns. You are fortunate to work for an animal hospital with a reptile specialist. Do not listen to pet stores....as I say....they don't know squat!! Good luck with your new buddy and keep us posted when he/she arrives!!

Thanks for the welcome, Germ and Pat B :)
I am lucky to have Dr Ritzman to work with. She has been a huge help! It also helps that I learned the hard way all the right things to do with goldfish. Not educating myself first led to lots of wasted moey. I am determined to have the proper setup before I bring this guy home :)
