This makes my skin crawl lol I have a serious cricket phobia! I had to switch to dubia roaches. Is this an option where you are?...much easier to work with. No smell, no noise, no jumping/flying, no climbing per say. And I've been informed they're nutritionally better...however I know they're not readily available anywhere. I was having bad dreams about the crickets, and could have cried trying to get them for my dragon. I'm a sissy I guess!

They are very interesting! I will open their container and watch them! I won't really touch them yet, but getting braver. I helped one flip himself over today lol my crickets all died within days....I was borderline neglectful to them. I was glad they died. Lol

I guess I have good luck with my crickets because mine survive a week or two . Many people hate crickets, I don't really mind any bugs as long as I say it's for the dragons well beings! lol

LOL!!! maxxdout, you have me cracking up! I'm exactly opposite -- crickets are actually my favorite bug and I've been terrified of roaches since I was a kid. Even typing that, my stomach jumped. LOL

BUT....Someone mentioned somewhere else that crickets BITE?! Do they bite the dragons?! Because I am so not cool with that, and I may have to switch to...to...to the OTHER bug...*cough*

Some roaches DO fly...are we absolutely, positively sure these don't? I will die if one escapes...but it would be worth not having to scope out the tank for any stragglers before I go to bed...

Yes absolutly dont leave any crix with them. Im sure if you google it you will find plenty of pics of the destruction crix can do. The lady i got mine from used to get a couple dozen at a time and just throw them in his tank (10 gal) until they were gone. Felt so bad for the poor guy he was only a baby 5 1/2 in. He runs from them now refuses to eat them

I have a funny story. Last Friday I was at work talking to the UPS man about my crickets and he asked if the chirping bothered me and I said no they are in the basement and I can drown out the noise. I then said that if the noise does get to me I try to feed Dexter the male crickets first. One of my coworkers was there and she asked how to tell the difference so I explained it to them. She then told me that CRICKET PEE BURNS! She was completely serious, she said that her sister had a cricket on her once in Mexico and it peed on her and it burned real bad! We were trying so hard not to laugh at her.

Oh my goodness, that's so terrible!!! And hideous. I didn't realize my favorite bug was so nefarious. :'(

So um. I'm assuming it wasn't pee... LOL And I'm absurdly fascinated by the fact that it burns so bad. >_<

So question... How do you make your own roach farm?
