My new rescue eyes dont stay open much and there was green gunk in one. Ive been using a soothing eye rinse every couple of hours with a qtip and it seems to be helping. Any advice? I dont know about its previous setup. (Uvb etc.)

sounds like you may be on the right track. good lighting and nutrition can certainly help - it will take a bit of time. If he's got an infection, you will probably want to see a vet and get some proper meds - might not want to delay too long on that - it's his eyes ya know !
