You’ve got quite a bit of clear space over the cool end so you could always bath her in the enclosure, I have a cat litter tray which I make up the bath in with some Reptisafe and bath my beardie in the warmth and familiarity of the enclosure. I then lay a couple of sheets of paper towel down on her basking spot and when she gets out she lays on them and dries off quickly. I’m not sure how many others do this, if it’s common practise? But it’s an idea if you hadn’t thought of it :)

Thanks for all the tips, my wife and I are can't believe how great this forum has been. Thank you everyone!
She has spend the day on top of the platform at 13 inches from the center of the UVB light basking. She could climb up a bit and get to 105, but she is sitting in 95 degree light.

Watch her behavior-- w/ the placement of the basking decor under the UVB she should start eating more- they need that UVB to absorb/ synethsize the calcium she's taking in

So I have got the enclosure off the floor. She ate a bit of greens and a few silk work pupae this morning. She will not accept food unless i leave it in a bowl. She is basking. Seems happy. Could it be that she just switched gears from fast growth to slow growth and just needs less calories?

My beardie is very picky on how i feed her aswell, some days its “hand feed me!” Other days its “ew a hand” and weirdly yet some days she wont eat if i stand there, get a bowl bugs cant escape so u can leave them in there, shes going through a lot of newness right now just give her time, my beardy has slowed down on food now that shes a year old, its also cold in most of the world right now so take that into consideration, as long as her spine, hips and legs have a good amount of fat she can go a couple days no food, my beardy doesn’t eat every , i do leave salad always in the tank of course.

Hi Guys,
I suspect my 6 year old sons Dragon is in Brumation, but I'm a novice. The dragon is about 6 months old. She was eating me out of house and home (700 crickets a week), then about 2 weeks ago it just stopped. She is no longer eating her Salads, and she refuses the dubai roaches, the feeder crickets, super worms and silkworms that I attempt to feed her. She is no longer basking and she is intentionally seeking out private cooler places in her enclosure. I keep her water full, and put greens in her cage daily, but she hardly eats anything. She just mostly stays still with her eyes mostly closed.

I am concerned.

Thanks!
Bearded dragons don't burmate until they are at Least a year old what is her temperature like in the cage and what ubv wattage are you using?

Hi, Beardies don’t Brumate tyoically under a year old.it’s usually after a year old. Have u switched out the UVB light? This needs replacing every 6Mnths religiously and the best one is the Reptisun 10.0 T5. The length u order should cover 70 percent of the tank it’s a long tubular bulb. Order from Amazon, Carolina custom cages or some specialty pet stores have them or shops that sell Beardies. And u need a hideaway in his tank I have a hammock behind basking spot and I place a soft towel over it and underneath is a fleece soft blanket so he can get in the shade when needed. If u have not replaced the uvb bulb and not using the Reptisun chances are his body/bones are shutting down. Also NO colored or coiled bulbs it burns their eyes; never ever use them. Also, the temps mite be off? Should be 100-105 with a digital themomowter & a digital hygrometer for humidity which should be 30-40 never higher than 40. Most people don’t realize the temps can vary with the temps in your home I keep my home temp at 68 or so higher makes the heat in his tank raise as well; at nite I switch my home temp to 70. When he gets to be like 9/10mnths old they like the temp around 95-100. Another issue is super worms; never ever feed a Beardie under a year old super worms. Their digestive tract can’t handle it; it tears their tummy up. So stick to Dubias & crickets proteins should be fed 2-3 times a day like 40-60 crickets or so split up 2-3 times a day. When he’s 9mnths u can do 2 protein feedings a day about 30-40 crilckets and at a year old 15-20 crickets per day one feeding. But always the veiggiies/greens everyday to munch on. Yellow squash, butternut squash, dandelions, mustard greens, collard greens, green beans and snap peas and u can do some red bell pepper are the best & everyday ones; make sure it’s cut up to size for him. Also is he pooping regularly and it should be oval and firm if it’s runny and smelly it’s Coccidia and that is deadly he needs a stool sample at a vet and major cleaning/burning of the cage & all times in hot water & 2doses of antibiotics then a retest of the stool at the vet. Also baths 2/week in dechlorinated lukewarm water for 15min minimum. If u don’t have a water filter system buy REPTISAFE & place a few drops in the bathing water it kills the chlorine. Chlorine dries out their skin & is horrible for them.

Also make sure the uvb light is changed every 6Mnths or their bodies and bones will shut down. The best one is the Reptisun 10.0 T5 needs the length I order should cover 70percent of the tank and he needs a hideaway I do a hammock as a less hitter basking spot behind the basking light they love hammocks and u oalce a soft terry cloth towel on top and underneath is his shade/hideaway and u can place a soft fleece balmier under the hammock so when he lays he’s comfy.

To bad
something that i have notice is that if you use somthing like a sand mat witch are completely fine, then somtprimes a pice may come of and your bearded dragon will eat it on. If this happens they are not going to eat for a day or two or maybe even three. This has happend to me once and I am letting you people know because it can be scary for a fist time owne.

Our bearded dragon did the same thing at 6 months. Finally took her to a vet exotic specialist
He had two different types of parasites. He went down to 25 grams. After medication he is now up to 60 grams. He's fat lol he's not nearly as big as yours. I hope everything works out.

Parasites can make them very uncomfortable. My vet said alot of beardies get pinworms so check the poop. Both my boys had it. The poop test isn't expensive at all. Better safe than sorry.

With her being six months old, she's too young to brumate; however, parasites and brumation have the same symptoms. Please get her to a vet to check for parasites as mine had parasites and he was doing the exact same thing as your dragon is doing.

I think the bulb is about 5 months old. I just ordered a new 36 inch T5. She is always wanting to sleep these days. She does bask for about 2 hours a day at best. She is eating small amounts of greens and a couple or roaches a day. She doesn't appear to be losing weight. I am going to make an appointment with a vet next week. I really don't know how old she is, i just know when i got her she was tiny and a bottomless pit of a stomach. She had a watery poop about three days ago. Before this she went daily.
Temps in the enclosure.
81 floor - where she is hanging out under her tile "hide".
94 on top of the tile
104 - basking spot if she climbs up on the rock i put on the tile
78 opposite side if the enclosure near her water bottle.

Thanks!

Please do a stool sample its $50; and google COCCIDIA, she mite have that if she was kept in dirty enclosure and poop was not cleaned asap. This is like lice; she needs antibiotics and burn all cage and items in hot water and use terry cloth towels as the substarte so when she poops you remove it asap and burn the towel in the washer in hot water. It takes a month plus to get rid of then another stool sample u must carpet clean anything she walked on. Burn all dishes; water/food in boiling hot water and let it sit for 30min plus pour hot water in the cage and let it sit, its alotta work if she has coccida. It is a parasite in their tummy & multiplies like lice. This will cause them to not want to eat and lose weight or eat alot and poop out the nutrition. ASLO, always replace the UVB light every 6mnths.

It is interesting that she is more than happy to eat canned silk worms. You'd think that if she was uncomfortable she would not eat anything. This morning she basked until about 2PM. 2PM back to the hide for sleepy time. She doesn't seem to be getting thinner. She just seems to want to sleep all the time.

So the exotic Vet is finally going to take a look at her next Tuesday. I have replaced her 24 inch T5 HO 10 with the 34 inch. I thought it came with a T5 HO 10, 39 watt bulb, but it came with a T5 HO 5. I adjusted the height to about 8 inches above her basking spot and went with it on Saturday.
All she had been doing is sleeping. I have had to disturb her and put her on her basking tile. She would stay on the tile basking for about 6 hours and then go under her tile. She wasn't eating much other than Silk Worm Pupae. We have bathed her, kept her enclosure clean and just checked on her often. She had a poop, white end then green brown...nice form...with some water around it. It didn't smell any worse than any of her other poops. Certainly not a evacuate the room smell.
Today she ate a lot compared to what has been the norm for the last 3 weeks. She had probably (5) 3/4 inch Dubai Roaches. Maybe 6 inch and a half super worms, along with some salad. She ate some Silk Worm Pupae also and showed interest in a cricket, but then closed her eyes. So, I am hopeful that the light is helping her. Today i replaced her bulb with a new T5 HO 10.0 39 Watt bulb.
