hi i got my beardie back in july. i have not had much time to spend with him and iam only able to feed him once a day. he has definetly got bigger than he was but compared to other beardies at his age, he is not what he should be. i got one of the non escape bowls to put roaches in so that he can eat them throughout the day but he does not like eating from there. i give him some salad too and he usually eats it. is there something i should do?

He needs to be fed more than he is--- how many roaches is he eating / day? At 5 months I would offer him salad first thing in the morning w/ some BSFL on top www.symtonbsf.com order large DO NOT dust them--- feed as many as you want then add your staple feeder after about a hr of his salad / BSFL the roaches they need to be dusted 5 x per week w/ calcium D3 and vitamins w/ beta carotene 2 x per week both feedings only ONCE on the dusting --

Now lets go over the lighting in your tank ---- this is a MUST for a healthy dragon and extremely important for him to be able to absorb / synthesize the calcium hes ingesting
NO coils please for a UVB you need a long tube fixture like a Zoo Med or Arcadia Pro T 5 or a Sunblaster Nano 24" for a 40 + gallon tank --- next NO colored bulbs for heat-and NO daytime bulbs they have a coating on them that is not good --- you need a bright white basking bulb like a Exo Terra Intense bulb that is a example -- you need it to be able to keep temps 105-110 for a baby or 95-100 for a juvie/ adult dragon -- and the temp must be taken w/a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons they are inaccurate -- place the probe where he sits for basking leave for 10 min or so then get the temp--- if you need more help please ask I can help w/ links to UVB fixtures and websites for worms / insects etc
