My Loki is named after the trickster god of Norse mythology. :P There's a reason why I named him that, but it's a long and complex story so I'll just go with "it sounds cute."
Loki turned one today! :D They grow up so fast... to celebrate, we gave him lots of superworms, collared greens and a few waxworms. Oh, and I made him a little party hat! He hated it and tried to eat it after a few minutes, but it was cute while it lasted.
(He's just starting to shed around...
Hey everyone! It's been a while, which I suppose is a good thing since this is the place I run to when I'm worried and scared about Loki's health, but he seems to be doing great lately. ^_^ He's a big boy now, and very colorful and fat.
He's also become VERY comfortable in my house... a...
Awwww Roland, you know you did the best you could do and made every attempt to give him a happy, albeit short, life. Take solace in the thought that he's feasting in lizard-Valhalla right now. Our thoughts are with you.
Was it frustrated thrashing or did it look more like involuntary spasms? Maybe it has something to do with his one eye... depth perception, maybe?.. and maybe he was just uncomfortable for a few minutes... If he's still eating and behaving normally other than that, I'd give him another chance...
:) I'm so happy that Odin is doing well! I feel like I have a connection with the little guy... Probably because I suggested the name. XD
Send him love from dear Auntie Val and give him extra greens for me, haha!
Aww, I'm so sorry that s/he is going through such a rough time. It sounds like the little feller has a very strong will though. Just keep doing what you're doing, and if s/he gets progressively worse I'd consider euthanasia.
My dog and dragon stare at each other all the time. Whenever I go in my room, Zak's nose is pressed against the glass and Loki's up in his face with the beard puffed out.
XD I guess Loki is the exception to this rule, haha. Whenever I open his tank, he jumps at me and clings to my arm and refuses to let go until I take him out of the tank so he can roam around my room, licking all the furniture.
I just wish you hadn't bought another one. :( I know returning a pet is always difficult, especially if the place you bought it from has a no-return policy (as most chain pet stores do). And trust me, it'll get very expensive to take care of the one you have right now. My lizard eats about $7...
Ugh. Why do you blatantly disregard everything that everyone on this forum says? You're putting both of those animals at risk just because you want two pets instead of one. Learn to properly take care of one animal before investing in two. People like you upset me.
Loki's about 8 months old now and still growing, as far as I can tell. He's had the same tank since he was a baby and has never had any problems with it, but I'm wondering if it's bad to keep him in a 40G breeder since he's so darned large. Here's a picture of him in it:
The problem is, I...
Please don't do this. :( Bearded dragons don't like friends. They're territorial animals, and even in a 75 gallon tank they'll probably fight and kill each other. And also watch the under tank heater, beardies can't sense heat from below and might burn their bellies if you're not careful.
