There are superworms, and there are also giant mealworms. You do not want to feed giant mealworms ever. Superworms are fine and are a different worm. Giant mealworms actually look like a mealworm only huge. Superworms look different, they are darker in color.
I don't see how flat sheets of newspaper could be an impaction risk. My beardie is always walking around tongue flicking the ground. I would think in that situation anything particulate would be though. I have used newspaper for reptiles for almost 20 years and have never noticed anyone being...
Well, I think it's instinct. Just like with some reptiles, being out in the open makes one vulnerable. The insects are looking for a place to hide not because they know you are feeding them to a lizard, but because self preservation is an instinct.
I actually use flat sheets of newspaper in my beardies tank. That's also what I use for my leopard geckos. My blue tongued skink gets shredded paper from the paper shredder for burrowing.
The bearded dragon was a rescue that I just got in good shape and put some weight on him. He is now ready for adoption.

I use newspaper to line my beardies cage floor. I have no problem with it moving around. I use newspaper for my leopard gecko cages as well. I did try paper towel in the gecko cages and that moved all over the place, but the newspaper is fine.
About six weeks or so ago I rescued a beardie from his original owner. At the time I wasn't sure if he would be staying or if I was going to get some weight on him and find him an adopter. Due to a sudden tragedy in my family and me feeling overwhelmed due to it, I am looking for an adopter...
No crickets are ever allowed in my home, so I would have no problem with your picky beardies....lol. Most beardies love superworms I know. But you want variety. I believe that both hornworms and silkworms are quite nutrtitious. I have not tried silkworms as they sound like a pain to take...
Honestly, I would go with the baking in the oven or the boiling. Bleach is a dangerous and toxic chemical. I know people have been using it for years, but I don't even allow it through the doors of my house. Baking, boiling, or chlorhexidine only in my home.
