    Centipedes in dubia colony

The bigger ones were obvious. The small ones really looked like regular centipedes.

Upon closer look, they are dermestid beetle larvae

    Centipedes in dubia colony

I recently ordered 1000 small dubias to add to my colony that’s still getting started. I’m now finding centipedes in the cage. They range from tiny up to about an inch long. I’ll try to get a pic, but there’s probably a dozen or so that I’ve seen. I’m assuming they came in with the new dubias...

Bioactive setup in PVC Zen Habitat

I contacted Zen, turns out they have a video that shows how to fix loose corners like I had. Enclosure is now much sturdier. I plan on making substrate out of sand, organic soil, and some excavator clay. How much of each would I need to make the substrate about 4” deep?

Bioactive setup in PVC Zen Habitat

Now that I have it assembled, I can tell it won’t work without the plastic liner - the PVC flexes too much to seal well against the frame. I’m not crazy about the enclosure. It feels super flimsy for $400. If I push the door too hard, the side pushes open. Might end up returning it

Leaving feeder insects in bioactive enclosure

Next summer, I have a trip planned for 8 days. Unfortunately the only people who would be able to come over to feed any pets will be on the trip as well. When I had a bioactive tank for a pacman frog, I was able to keep mealworms, super worms, and dubias in the tank, and the frog just ate what...

Bioactive setup in PVC Zen Habitat

My Zen 4x2x2 should arrive tomorrow. My dragon is a juvenile, so I’ll be using tile as a substrate for now. When it gets bigger, I’d like to do a bioactive setup. Since it won’t be very wet, will silicone around the edges be enough? Or would I need to order the plastic liner Zen sells? It looks...

    Heating a 4x2x2 enclosure

Would I be better off putting the basking spot in the center of the enclosure?

    Heating a 4x2x2 enclosure

Hi, brand new bearded dragon owner here. I agreed to get one for my son for his birthday without doing enough research, so I’m going with a new, correctly appointed enclosure. I’m most likely getting a Zen 4x2x2, but also considering one from Maximum Reptile as well. Right now, I have a juvenile...
