Yep, I have the reptisun 5.0 and a regular dome heat lamp with a bulb, not with the coils. I use a gun-type thermometer. It's 102-107 or so on the hot side and 80ish on the cool side (which is where the sun shines in). Beardie is 5 months old, nice and fat and healthy, according to the vet. He...
Hello,
Our beardie has his tank near a window that gets morning sun. So most mornings, he basks in the sun instead of under his heat lamp (which is on the opposite side of the tank). That's fine, right? He sometimes basks there after he eats his breakfast salad, but by the time he gets crickets...
Update: The dark part felt different than the rest of his tail, so I took him in to see the vet. She said it might be the beginning of tail rot and gave me an ointment to put on it once per day.
Also, she said he should be eating only about 15 large crickets per day... before he slowed down in...
We do actually have a T5. I checked the box. I remember having the discussion with my son about which one to get and I thought he got the T8, but he didn't. :) So that one is fine to keep on top of the wide mesh top?
Thank you! I'm not sure why the other one died, but yes, we sanitized the tank. That was back in January. We have a Reptisun 10 bulb that's 2/3 the length of his tank and a heat lamp. The UV bulb is brand new; we just replaced it a week or so ago. We have a laser pointer thermometer that reads...
Hello,
We have Ragnaros, who is almost four months old. He's been a total eating machine, polishing off his greens, his crickets, his squash/carrots, and the occasional chopped up superworm. This weekend, though, he slowed down on his eating. He did eat some crickets yesterday, but not as many...
I rinsed it with saline and he was able to open it, yay! Now he seems to be mostly holding it shut but he at least opens it when I go in so he can look at me. For his lunch, I had to use feeding tongs with his crickets because he was running with his head sideways to try to catch them and that...
I just posted a new thread about dubia roaches being illegal in Florida, but I should have kept reading! Nutri grubs are a good staple feeder just for babies or as they get older as well?
We tried to order dubia roaches and found out that they're illegal in Florida. For now, our tiny guy is eating small crickets. He won't really touch the greens we give him yet. What's another good diet staple for him to replace the dubia roaches?
We have a new little beardie who seems healthy and active, but this morning he woke up and one eye seems stuck shut. I dribbled a little bottled water on it and also used a q-tip to gently clean around it... but he can't or won't open it. He's about 6 weeks old, we think. Any ideas?
Yes, Reptisun is what we will look for. My son has fishing wire that he plans to use to "tie" the light to the underside of the top. It's a 75-gallon tank, I believe. We got the big one that we figured we'd need for a big dragon.
