Building an Enclosure for First Time

Melamine is mdf board with laminate on top and bottom by no means is it flimsy...... If I'd does get wet and absorb into the melamine it will deff swell up and not be as sturdy.... But sealing all areas will aid with this...... I have built all my enclosures with melamine never had one issue.......

    night heat q

Do not use the red bulb period.... They can see color and it will bother then while sleeping.... If your temps do not drop below 65 at night time you do not require heat at night.... What light source do you have for him during the day?

how much calcium with vitamin D?

They should get enough d3 from the Uvb if they sat 3 inches from it and directly in the middle of the tube.... As that where the best output is.... The ends of the bulbs suffer.... I would dust everyday without d3 and 2 times a week with...... Lightly....... I personally only use Rep-cal...

is my temp gauge off? 156 degrees F on low basking spot

Try putting a piex of paper towel on top of the basking spot than the probe and measure the temp... I found the heat bouncing of the object is also read by the prob and not just the heat coming down from the bulb...... Do that see what the difference is... Than remove the paper towel obviously

And if they do use a ceramic heat emitter... They produce heat but ZERO LIGHT..... Also make sure your basking...

    I need some help?

Uvb is needed to PRODUCE D3. Without it they can form MDB etc..... They have to have a hot basking spot of 100-115 to digest there food..... There's a good chance your beardie is impacted also...... I'm sorry you lost your job... But in the best interests of your pet being without UVB and...

Is this enclosure we built okay?

Yea FRP would be a good idea... It's fibreglass though not plastic so when you cubit to see make sure to clean all dust off as it will not be good for your dragon to ingest or breath..
