    Dubia Roaches

I place the roaches in a small plastic tupperware or a small ceramic bowl. The Dubia's can't climb out and it's easy for my beardie to reach in and gobble them up.

    Dubia Roach breeding?

Keep them warm (90-100 degrees) and feed them. Supposedly oranges are like Viagra for them. I typically drop in oranges, apples, carrots, left over mustard and collard greens (from Si's salads), and grapes. I also use a high protein chicken feed as their staple. As for getting them to breed...

    Hello Everyone Newbie here

For the record, the roaches creep me out too. I only touch them by hand in an emergency (like if a couple escape when I'm cleaning their bin). But, I'm more afraid of my wife's reaction if one somehow got in the house so I do want I have to do. I've got a pretty good system down now so I...

    Hello Everyone Newbie here

Look under the forum "Diet". There is quite a bit of information there. I've heard/read that breeding/keeping crickets is a royal pain...especially compared to Dubias. It's simply a matter of having a large plastic tote (those big ones you can get at wal-mart, home depot, etc. Throw some egg...

    New terrarium build

You're on the right track for sure. I don't have a router but if I did I would have done exactly what your plan is. There is a real challenge making these things with right angles so that everything is plumb. That's where the trim comes in handy as it hides some of the minor tweaks I had to...

    Hello Everyone Newbie here

If you're going to continue to feed him Dubia's you might want to try breeding them yourself. For less than $100 you can get everything you need plus a slew of adults/mix that will get you started (I assume you don't live in Florida since you already ordered some). They are ridiculously easy...

    New terrarium build

That's going to be very nice! What are the dimensions? I like having the sliding doors. Really makes getting in the space a ton easier. You're either going to have to put your glass rails on the outside front and block both side edges or remove one of your front side posts or top rail to get...

    New terrarium build

Thanks. It was a fun project but I was certainly glad to be done with it. Keep posting pics. Are you going with a solid front or sliding doors?

    New terrarium build

I grouted my floor as well. I used a very thin layer and did not seal it. The grout is holding up perfectly. The texture does make picking up poop a bit of a hassle but nothing a little hot water and a toothbrush can't resolve.

    New terrarium build

Very nice! I used grout only on my "furniture". Not only will sealing it make it safe, it'll keep the grout in place. As thick as I had to apply the grout, it would crumble and fall apart until I put a few coats of sealer on it (Mod Podge). It seems to be working great and I haven't seen any...

    Baby hardly eating/not drinking

I've only done collard and mustard greens. Si seems to be good with both but I think he likes the Mustard Greens better. I put in diced up red bell pepper with his collard greens but he didn't touch them. This week I tried diced up carrots but again, no interest. I figure I'll keep trying...

    Baby hardly eating/not drinking

Your dragon is about the same age as mine. I've had him for just over two weeks now. I agree 100% with Pasty. He's eating and that's good. These fellas figure out how to survive in some pretty harsh conditions in the wild. He's probably just eating all he wants to eat. For mine, I make a...

    Eating... Dead skin

Timely discussion! Mine just went through his first big shed and I was noticing him going around and scooping up some of the smaller pieces this morning. I told him it was rather gross, but he reminded me that he eats roaches so...

    Tank Size

The simple answer is the bigger the better! Mine is still very small and he seems to enjoy all his space. From what I understand, when they get older they don't run around as much but you still want to give them plenty of room to maneuver. I think a 40 gallon is the minimum recommended size...

    Building materials

I haven't seen anyone use a screen for the front of the cage - only the top. I'd wonder if your dragon could climb the screen and thus, risk injury? Also, screen needs quite a bit of support to have any rigidity. I built my enclosure as well and put in sliding front glass (Plexiglas). It was...
