Also, for those who are in the know, and are currently online....I'm going to get some super worms today, hopefully in the next few hours. I know I was going to get some before but I've been ill for a few days.
How many should I get? I'm assuming Beardie will eat at least two a day, going by...
Update!!
Beardie seems to be holding steady at around 240g, and his injury is healing nicely. =)
My only concern is that the scales around the wound site seem to be not healing so well. Is it because of the antibiotic ointment is keeping them moist?
I'm so sorry you lost Allie. =(
I like to have Beardie on my lap, or resting against my shoulder, with my hand supporting him if he needs it. I give him little hugs and kisses on the top of his head.
He ate two meal worms today, on his own. I also pushed some little pieces of red pepper on...
I bought some crickets this morning, just some small ones because it was the medium ones that chewed him to bits. I also saw some large wormy things when I was at the pet....place. Not a pet store, just an area in a general store. I think the box said zophobas on it? The store has everything...
He keeps sleeping with his head propped up on his water bowl. At the moment his chin is resting in it....
When I touch him, to pick him up or see how warm he is, he's quite....squishy. As in, there seems to be space between his skin and his body. It almost feels like a bag with water in. That's...
I don't think so. And now I'm even more concerned because I came to check on him this morning and I think he might have diarrhoea. And he's black, not just his beard but down his sides too. =(
So I'm back, finally. Beardie was at the vet for about 4 days and in that time gained 60g!!!!! I wonder how much of that is fluid vs food weight?
I'm still worried though. He just seems to sleep all the time, only moving to go from the basking side to the cool side of his tank, and he has a...
I've found a clinic that can take Beardie for €20 a day, give or take!!! I just have to get my friends to drive me, Beardie, and ALL of his things over. Including his tank.
I am so happy and relieved right now. And Beardie's "mum" has suggested that maybe I can keep Beardie!! But I have to run...
So Beardie's family said that they don't think they can afford for him to stay with the vet for a few days while I'm away as one of them just broke his arm (in the USA so that's $1500), but I've emailed the vet clinic asking
1. Will they take him?
2. How much would it cost?
So at least I can...
How much is 2cc in ml? I have a syringe that does 1ml at a time....
And would Beardie need a little bit to start off with since he's already dehydrated and all the antibiotics could be a little hard on his liver and kidneys?
Sorry for all the replies/questions, but I'm so new to this. How much water does he need to drink every day? I know they're desert creatures so in theory they don't need much but I think I need to give Beardie lots to drink so he can get back to a normal level of hydration.
I read somewhere else online that chicken can be bad for beardys....I do have some cooked chicken which I can tear into small bits and then shove down his throat, because I am not going to let the little bugger die. Not happening.
I keep syringing water into his mouth, and when he starts...
