I'd definatly recommend getting a little enclosure for him. I took my littl guy out in the grass once and he ran right under the neighbors fence! You can get a little playpen like enclosure in most petstores. They do sell lizard harnesses as well!
Not sure on the wattage, since I still get confused on that myself.. but you won't be able to tell the gender of the beardie until they're a bit older. When they're babies, they show signs of BOTH genders so it can get confusing. Once they're old enough though, telling the gender is is pretty...
I currently have an approximately 6 month old male beardie named Chsrlie. I've been thinking about getting a female tank mate for him. I just don't know if my current tank would be big enough for the both of them. I don't know how ma y gallons my tank is, but the dimensions are 36x18x17
Look under their tail, right where the tail meets the body. If they have 2 little lumps, then they're a boy. If they have no lumps, or just a single lump. Then it's female. :)
