Vinyl Peel and Stick Flooring

Could someone shed some light on the use of vinyl peel and stick flooring? I want to use it on my cage on 3 of the sides as a background. I've seen several cages done this way and have been told by several not to do it this way. Does anyone have any experience with this good or bad that could offer an opinion?

I've only been a beardie mom for a couple of months, but from everything I've read, my understanding is that the sticky part can be dangerous to the dragon with the lighting temperatures. Toxic fumes or something like that. Use non-stick vinyl.
