Recommendations for Heating

Hello guys, I am new here but really need some help with my bearded dragon set up. He is a full grown adult.

So long story short I feel like I am constantly making trips to the store because literally every bulb I buy goes out. I kept getting the Repti Basking Spot 150 watt bulb and out of the 5 or 6 I have gotten all of them went out in a matter of days. I have tried Infrared and black out ceramic heat emitters from Petsmart and Petco but it’s the same thing every time, usually they last a couple days and then go out or are barely able to produce any heat after sometime. The bulbs are all about 5 inches above his basking spot. I am really tired of constantly having to go to the store and find another bulb just to have it go out shortly after.

Can anyone PLEASE give me their bulb recommendations for basking spots that actually work in your experience. I would prefer bulbs that give off light, but will settle for anything that works heat wise for at least a couple weeks. Although, please no expensive mercury vapor bulbs, he already has sufficient UVB, I just need a heat lamp.

Its ur heat lamp thats probably the problem,…. What wattage is it rated? If you use a higher watt bulb in a low watt fixture, that blows them out, he needs it to be 97f at most no higer.
These are what i have, none have blown or even been replaced yet.

Also can u tell us what uvb ur using, please, this is very important along with proper distance, u need a long tubular uvb and a fixture with a reflector in it,…..NOT a “compact” or “coil” bulb.

Please no colored bulbs in the future, they cause eye problems, (same thing with compact coil uvb)

As Skybug suggested check the wattage on the fixture your using -- it needs to be a fixture w/ a ceramic socket as well --- I use 150 watt Exo Terra Intense Basking bulb -- ceramic heat emitters are for night time temps in the tank not so much for basking -- you need a bright white basking bulb -- and you only need the heat emitter if your tank is falling below 65 at nite -- your basking temps need to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons please
